KKBS Orientation for New Undergraduate Students in the Academic Year 2025 prepares students to become quality graduates in the digital era.

On June 20, 2025, the Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy at Khon Kaen University organized an orientation program for new students for the academic year 2025. This event aimed to promote support and prepare students, fostering good relationships among new students, senior students, and faculty members. This initiative is expected to produce graduates aligned with the ideals and objectives of the philosophy, mission, and vision of the faculty and the university. The event was honored by the presence of Assistant Professor Dr. Pongsutti Phuensane, the Dean, who welcomed the new students. Following the welcome was a special lecture on the topic “Undergraduate Teaching Management” presented by Dr. Wittika Thangchan, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. This was followed by a discussion on “Student Activities and Freshmen Welcome Activities” led by Assistant Professor Wilaiporn Paisarn, Assistant Dean for Student Development and Extracurricular Activities. The event concluded with a session where course professors met with new students to explain academic policies and provide opportunities for students to ask questions and exchange valuable information for their personal development as they aim to become desirable graduates of Khon Kaen University in the future.

Assistant Professor Dr. Pongsutti Phuensane stated, “I would like to welcome all of you to the Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy at Khon Kaen University, which is a premier business institution that focuses on integrating knowledge and innovation with industry to achieve sustainable economic development (KKBS is a Premier Business School Focused on Industrial Integration for Sustainable Economic Development).” On behalf of the Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy, the administration, faculty members, staff, alumni, and current students, I congratulate all new students for the academic year 2025. This cohort marks the 62nd group of students and equivalent to the 62nd class within KKU, or the 10th cohort if we consider it from the history of KKBS. This class is the 42nd cohort if we count from the early period when business administration courses were offered within the Humanities and Social Sciences Faculty, which later evolved into the Faculty of Management Sciences and ultimately became the Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy in its current form.

Assistant Professor Dr. Pongsutti Phuensane further mentioned that this year, Khon Kaen University has received outstanding rankings from international institutions. For instance, in the SCImago Institutions Rankings (SIR), the university ranks 5th out of 21 educational institutions in Thailand in the field of Business, Management and Accounting, and 4th out of 15 institutions in the field of Economics, Econometrics, and Finance. Meanwhile, in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2025 by subject: business and economics, Khon Kaen University is ranked between 601-800 globally. At the national level, Khon Kaen University has climbed to share 3rd place in Thailand. Additionally, the faculty is the first in Thailand within the humanities and social sciences domain to be assessed with a score of 300 according to the EdPEx (Education Criteria for Performance Excellence) evaluation criteria. The faculty is also a member of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), seeking accreditation for its educational standards in business administration and accounting from the United States, which is a global standard for educational institutions in these fields. Furthermore, the Dean elaborated on the role of AI in education, stating that in the digital age, artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming increasingly vital in education. AI has transformed the learning methods of students from traditional approaches to what is referred to as “Personalized Learning.” It can analyze student responses and adjust learning content to meet individual needs, akin to creating a unique learning path for each learner. Particularly in the fields of business administration and accounting, AI plays a crucial role in enhancing both learning and professional skills. Students can utilize AI for market data analysis, strategic planning, business situation simulations, or real-time Business Model creation. Meanwhile, accounting students can employ AI to learn intelligent accounting systems, detect financial anomalies, and conduct analysis on large financial data sets or business cases based on real data in a data-driven manner, allowing them to gain a deeper understanding of the business world’s context. These attributes are essential characteristics of a “21st Century Graduate” who is prepared to face changes confidently and create added value for organizations in the future.

“For education at the Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy at Khon Kaen University, in addition to the rigor of academic programs, the faculty emphasizes learning through both theory and practice. Students are encouraged to learn from real experiences through internships and knowledge exchange from experts domestically and internationally. Within the faculty, there are facilities and innovations for learning, such as libraries, computer laboratories, studio rooms, KKBS Café, hotel management laboratories, and the Career Excellence Development Center (KKBS CEC). These resources will enhance students’ analytical thinking and practical skills, contributing to their preparation as graduates with both hard skills and soft skills essential for the modern world. Ultimately, I wish all new students success in their studies, gaining as much experience as possible, making the best use of their time, and moving towards their intended goals. If there are any concerns, all faculty members and staff are ready to provide support throughout the four years at Khon Kaen University,” the Dean concluded.
