Khon Kaen Business School

The Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy at Khon Kaen University originated from the commitment to develop education to meet the demands of the labor market and to expand educational opportunities for the population in the northeastern region of Thailand. The establishment of the faculty was a result of the National Educational Development Plan, Phase 7 (1992–1996), initially starting under the name “Faculty of Management Sciences.” It was officially declared in the Royal Gazette on December 30, 1992.

In the early phase of its operation, the Faculty of Management Sciences had an administrative structure that was divided into four sections: the Office of the Dean, the Department of Finance and Accounting, the Department of Economics, and the Department of Business Administration. It offered the Bachelor of Business Administration program in Finance as its first course, followed by programs in Hotel Management and Tourism as well as Economics. To accommodate the rapidly changing societal needs, the faculty has developed and expanded additional programs, such as the Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing, Management, and Accounting.

This initiative aims to promote comprehensive learning encompassing both theoretical and practical aspects, focusing on producing graduates who possess academic potential and professionalism, as well as moral and ethical principles in their lives and work. Between 2004 and 2015, Khon Kaen University implemented an organizational restructuring to align with modern management models by transitioning from a departmental system to a group-based management approach encompassing the fields of Finance, Marketing, Management, Tourism, Hospitality and Events, Accounting, and Economics. Furthermore, graduate-level programs were introduced to enhance student capabilities and research output, along with developing a One Stop Service system to reduce operational procedures and increase management efficiency.

On July 18, 2015, Khon Kaen University transitioned to a state-managed university status, leading to changes in the internal structure of the university. A new Department of Economics was established, and subsequently, the Faculty of Management Sciences requested a name change to “Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy” to align with the courses being offered. This change was approved by the University Council on February 6, 2016, and was published in the Royal Gazette on April 20, 2016, coming into effect from April 21, 2016, onwards.

Currently, the Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy at Khon Kaen University continues to develop curricula, teaching methodologies, and research activities in accordance with international standards. The faculty is committed to being a center of quality in business administration and accountancy, capable of producing graduates who possess competitive abilities in the global labor market. It also plays a vital role in driving the economy and society towards sustainable progress.
