The “8 Economic Organizations of Khon Kaen Province” was established in July 2008, primarily tasked with creating a forum to connect relationships and drive economic growth in the area. It comprises the Bank of Thailand, Northeastern Region Office, Khon Kaen Provincial Industry Council, Khon Kaen Chamber of Commerce, Khon Kaen Tourism and MICE Association, Khon Kaen Banking Club, Alumni Association of the Graduate School of Management (MBA), Khon Kaen University, the Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy at Khon Kaen University, and the Faculty of Economics at Khon Kaen University. In this meeting, we were honored by the presence of the Federation of Thai Entrepreneurs, Region 5 (FA SME C5), who participated to expand cooperation networks at the regional level. The meeting proceeded under an agenda that included exchanging opinions and discussing comprehensive approaches to developing and driving the economy of Khon Kaen Province. One of the proposals that garnered interest was the organization of an “Academic Forum” to provide a platform for exchanging ideas with executives from Khon Kaen Airport and various airlines regarding the development of new flight routes connecting Khon Kaen Province with potential cities in both domestic and international markets, thereby reinforcing the province’s role as a “Regional Aviation Hub.” The meeting reached a consensus in principle and assigned the Faculty of Economics, in collaboration with the Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy, to consider a working model to present at the next meeting.
(Mr. Prasith Thongthangthai, Mayor of Khon Kaen City)
On this occasion, we were also honored by Mr. Prasith Thongthangthai, the Mayor of Khon Kaen City and an alumnus of the Faculty of Business Administration at Khon Kaen University, who joined to share perspectives on urban development together with various stakeholders. The participation of the education sector, business sector, and civil society in this forum demonstrates the collaboration among Khon Kaen’s economic organizations, which share a common goal of elevating the economy, society, and quality of life for citizens while encouraging sustainable growth for Khon Kaen Province.
